About Dr. Laure-Anne Teuwen
Dr. Laure-Anne Teuwen is a medical oncologist and clinician-researcher at Antwerp University Hospital, Belgium, where she specialises in breast and gynaecological cancer and global oncology. She obtained her medical degree from KU Leuven and a joint PhD from KU Leuven and the University of Antwerp.
Her research focuses on global oncology and cancer policy. As a recipient of a clinical postdoctoral research mandate from the Belgian Foundation Against Cancer, she studies the management of cervical cancer in low-resource settings in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières). In 2022–2023, she worked as a field oncologist with Doctors Without Borders in Blantyre, Malawi, and Bamako, Mali. She is also a co-investigator in the BG Lab.
Dr. Teuwen is principal investigator on several clinical oncology studies at Antwerp University Hospital and has co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, including work published in Cell, Nature Reviews Immunology, Lancet Oncology, Nature Medicine, Cancer Cell, and Cancer Treatment Reviews. She serves on the editorial boards of JCO Global Oncology and Cardio-Oncology and is a participant in the ESMO Leadership Programme 2025–2026.
She coordinates the Global Oncology Work Group (GLOW), a multidisciplinary collaborative focused on research and initiatives in global cancer care. She is actively involved in the BSMO Young Oncologists Committee, the Belgian Board of Oncology, and the BSMO Quality Task Force, and is a member of international oncology organisations including ASCO, ESMO, EORTC, AORTIC, and Common Sense Oncology.
